Vintage 300 Piece Ravensburger ‘Solar System’ Puzzle- Brand New- $6

planets1

Brand new Ravensburger three hundred piece puzzle. Has a copyright of 1988.

By the by, it clearly states that it is NOT for children under 36 months. Me thinks if you child is capable of such a feat in this age category, you probably needn’t worry about choking hazards.

Please note that puzzle I am selling is not the same one as pictured. Rather I have one which is still in sealed, but torn cellophane. (I found several of these).

Cute set of gently used twenty piece puzzles by premium puzzle maker, Ravensburger. One features fairies and flowers, the other a group of prancing unicorns. (Hmm… wonder which market they were targeting?).

Box itself is a little beaten up, but puzzle pieces are fine. They are a nice larger size format for little hands to grasp, and made of very sturdy cardboard.

Leaded Glass Room Divider/ Screen- Custom Made- $500

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This screen is very special. My friend made it from some old door panels from an estate in Westmount. She paid over $1500 to create this piece of furniture- no including the cost of the panels. She recently relocated and no longer has the need for a room divider.

The glass panels are made of a very heavy and thick leaded glass- possibly crystal.

Weighs a tonne. This is not a flimsy piece!

‘Kissy Kissy Time’ Album by Alexandra Delgado- $15

kissy

Alexandra Delgado has been a long time frequenter of the Magpie site. She is a very talented musician who recently released an album for kids. My son, who is five, adores it. He listens to it frequently, and sings the songs under his breath when we go for walks. The songs are snappy, fun for kids, and in three languages!

I am not taking a cut or commission on the albums. All profits go directly to the artist.

The City Assembled by Spiro Kostof- $12

spiro1

The Elements of Urban Form Through History

Moving from the historical and cultural overviews of the city, Kostof descends into the streets, sidewalks, squares, markets, and waterfronts and presents a detailed urban anatomy. The book is organized thematically around the structural phenomena of cities — the city edge, the street, public space, the marketplace, and the realities of cultural and economic segregation. It explores the customs, practicalities, and biases behind the elements of the city. The City Assembled is a fascinating account of the urban experience, written, like The City Shaped, for general and professional readers alike.

Loads of illustrations and photos. Not a dry book at all.

This hardcover edition is in very good vintage condition. The only thing is that the very first page of the book -t he one which is usually a blank before an actual title page- appears to be cut out. Why? I do not know. Please see the photo below. Comes with its original jacket intact. It is listed on Ebay and Amazon for sky high prices. Most listing are at the $90 mark. I assume they are holding out for that one architectural student doing their thesis…

Victorian Era ‘Do It Yourself’ Tea Cup & Saucer- $10

bava1

I picked up this set in a church sale as I just loved the flowers. Little did I know I had found a really interesting piece. Turns out it is Bavarian in origins, dated 1857-1920. However, I believe this to be no later than the early 1900′s. The reason being that it was most probably sold as a ‘blank’ set which was then coloured in by the purchaser. A bit like the do it yourself mugs and such we have today.

This was a popular past time in the Victorian era. It would also explain the very non-German sounding name signed at the back- ‘Coltart’. As well, the set is not very refined. When I purchased it I was thinking the gilt was a bit sloppy in areas and such.

Both pieces are in very good vintage condition. There is a yellow circular stain at the back of the plate. Background colour is a very pale yellow, which does not come across in some of my photos.

$10 for the set.
