Welcome to the Discerning Magpie. We are a Montreal (Canada) based site, offering carefully selected, exclusive items for your home and wardrobe, at a fair price. Whether new or vintage, each object is always authentic and worthy of magpie pillaging!

To make a purchase you must post a comment, with your e-mail or registered user name, under the item. A hold is then placed for 5 days. Payment may be made via Paypal, electronic debit, or in cash. First post gets priority. New customers are given a five day hold.

Items can be shipped, at the cost of  the purchaser. A small fee may be applied if packaging needs to be purchased. We try to reuse what we have, when possible. There are no handling fees.

The Discerning Magpie’s stash is tucked away in Verdun, very close to a metro stop. Although we are an online shop, visits can be arranged to view items, and local pick-ups are always welcome.

Once or twice a month, depending upon demand, pick-ups may be made at an arranged meeting point in the West Island. Payment must be made in advance, if the meeting does not fall within the 5 day reservation time frame. (Applies to new customers only).
